Liberalism doesn’t work…..

 

I find this statement interesting, though this issue has merit, the term Liberalism or liberal here in America took two interesting historical facts, first the original idea that a liberal stands for equality, without reservation, to creed, color, nor social status seems to be lost today in America politics.

 

Franklin D. Roosevelt and his new deal policies of the welfare-state, were ideas that took America through a tuff time, completely bad in foundation and actualization this became an almost dogmatic chant of the policy of those days, and the retaliation for many years now.

 

1976 the GOP and in the following Presidential Candidate Ronald Reagan, took the term even further down a negative moral hole when the idea of Liberal began to include the values of marriage, and faith based social support.

 

Liberal doesn’t mean these things.

 

This confusion has lead to a great many miss understandings, and disastrous policies on both sides of the political table.

 

 

Without a Liberal history shows us that we would not have this country, and in many parts of the world democracy as we know would not be a functioning form of government.

 

History also shows us that every government will have a needy or finically insecure part of the population to which liberal statements and values can be addressed, it is within that address that we find many of the most powerful leaders and values. John F. Kennedys Speech “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”, Martin Luther King “I have a Dream” speech are now a fundamental part of America. Both based on Liberal ideas and concepts. This is repeated in history all the way back to the very beginnings of this nation.

 

Let me make this clear as I as to what I believe, no child no where should suffer from hunger, need of health care, nor lack of education, thus enabling them to define their own prosperity. This is not a value that should be tossed around with a bad label. With today’s technologies we have no excuse not to make that happen.

 

We spend Billions upon Billions yearly on war, guns, and security, the Policies of excesses in the War on Drugs, the Terror ( the Security War.) War, which involve our own land and population is staggering. Our agreements in weapon trades is appalling!

Just last month, during this big debate on health care and funding our government, we released 1.6 billion in weapons to Pakistan. We were in a closed down state, politicians on both sides would not let our children into a National park, yet we can give 1.6 billion in guns.

 

If that is the Value of a conservative, then call me liberal.

 

To be forced by law to provide financial security to an industry of service is also just as appalling, Home Auto and Health mandated by law, are you now going to mandate my business, no matter the excuse used nor the value of the insurance you are mandated by law.

 

If that is the Value of a conservative, then call me a Liberal but mandate my business.

 

I am a Republican I have Liberal values am I really the issue?

My Wife is a Democrat she has Liberal values is she really the issue?

Yes at the dinner table there are heated debates, yet we still seem to be able to help another daily, provide a stable place for our children, just barely, but we are here, we are proud, yet we are humble are we really the issue?
