Denial.... #

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance…

When I started this wish, simple as it was, I thought at first it was going to be easy, an easy task of just explaining, but as I built those words I realized in myself the stages of denial and how the very thought was something I was dealing with for years. See for you, you are just hearing this maybe for the first time, however, something is not right, and you’ve known it all along inside.

NBC News, CBS, ABC drove home the value of war, the carnage the violence the loss; I wasn’t really given much time for denial. This was nightly delivery, headlines from around the globe; years of this conditioning of violence, instilling a belief that we need and even are war.

I got all pissed many years ago, and grabbed a sign and took a stand; I think that first sign said something like Peace not War. Boy that was so very long ago, all the yelling all the standing, the ends were not all the same, but the victory was in the just going home afterwards.

Man could I write letters back then, to the editors, the senators the news coverage; rude blunt, soft nice, a stack of words on a paper, watching and hoping someone would want to bargain for just one thought, one reason for war, one real profit of a war, I challenged them to discourse then as well as now.

I am locked between depression and acceptance, depression of the fact that this has been going on for years, and acceptance of the cold heart of my fellow man and the very stages of denial in which I live.

Out of a fear of a hoodlum will you put a tank (armored police vehicle) at the end of our street; out of fear of a terrorist they put a bug in Angry Birds to track my kids playing habits. Out of fear, they’re tracking your cell phone calls and listening as you ask your wife whether you’re bringing cheese or bread home. All of this out of fear.

Yet when you look to our cities today, you pass by hundreds of people living without a weapon, going to and fro, and working in restaurants or grocery shops. Yes, there will always be a criminal, but look everyday down any path you choose to go, and you see them: you friends, neighbors, families are huddled around your town. Repeated in every town, every city, proof that humanity lives within the rules mostly, a life of trying to gain prosperity, a value to our existence.

With our intelligence, our technology, could humanity finally step through the door of self destruction and put the guns down? Really, when is the time of the weapon to be placed in history? How about just once, bargain one for one.

Really, no child should die by the weapons of war.
